Silgan Dispensing Partners With Stella McCartney for Latest Beauty Launch

  • Silgan Dispensing Systems

Silgan Dispensing was excited to partner with Stella McCartney Beauty on their latest beauty launch featuring a unique refill system 100% made in France at our Lacrost Plant.

With sustainability in mind, we supplied our Airless NEA pump with twist lock system, which reduced plastic use by eliminating the need for an overcap. Stella McCartney wanted to ensure that all the components of the package would be have the lightest environmental impact possible.

The pump and custom inserts & collars are available on 2 of the essential products of the range; Alter-Care Serum, and the Restore Cream.

The custom inserts are made of 70% of R-PP with special white color. The custom collar is injected in 100% R-PET with a fine engraving and a satin finish colored with a white master batch to achieve the “handmade” look the brand desired.

Silgan Dispensing is providing a responsible alternative to luxury skincare, as this launch has reduced the brand's environmental footprint by a third and staying true to Stella’s philosophy of using ‘only what you need’.' Stella McCartney Beauty is an alternative to luxury skincare. All the products of the brand are refillable, lowering their environmental footprint. Refilling your product once lowers it’s environmental impact by a third; twice lowers the impact by half. When the refill is used on its own, the impact on climate change is two-thirds lower.

Why standardization is key to driving sustainability across the packaging industry

Silgan Dispensing is a member of Cetie, and several members of our team are involved with its various working groups, including one that focuses on screw necks or glass bottles: the Flaconnage Geometry Group. We recently talked with Juan Albi, project team leader for Silgan Dispensing’s beauty and personal care, and Sandy Gregory, director of fragrance marketing, to share about our company’s relationship with Cetie and how new standards are driving sustainability across the industry.

How has the pandemic impacted consumers' use and relationship with fragrances?

The impact scent can have on a mood and overall sense of wellbeing is nearly impossible to overstate. One fragrance can elicit feelings of coziness and comfort, while another can give a person a sense of luxury and distinction. Given the seemingly endless variations of fragrances and personal uses, it’s no surprise the fragrance market has seen such steady profitability in recent years – at least, prior to COVID-19.
